Lets see..................... a lot of things have had me reflecting lately. For instance, why are some people givers, while others are takers? Why do some people like to work together while others work solely for their own benefit. I have to say that I really like the together people alot better.

The more we work as a team, the more we get accomplished and thats just the way it is. I believe it, and I see it. The more we work as a team, the easier things become. This applies in all aspects of our lives. I care for my elderly mother, every single night. She requires insulin injections that she cannot give herself, and so I must be there each night to do that among other chores, etc. This is exhausting!!!!!!!! As a team or family, this would be so much easier, but my siblings have their reasons for NOT being able to join my team of one.

As the saying goes, there is no I in team. Many of us are working together on etsy, trudging along, just trying to make a living, have a good time, and help one another in the process. For us, that is alot more fun than going it alone. So, firstly a big THANK YOU goes out to Tim of http://www.etsy.com/shop/teaman for becoming the captain of our team, so to speak, in our quest for promoting and selling our wares on etsy. To Blog or Not to Blog..............

At times I was at it every other day............then every other week, then i fall off the blog wagon for a while. I've tried to keep the blogging craft oriented and even promoted not only craft items sold in my shop, but in many other etsy shops.

When my mom fell ill back in November, it took my life for a turn. A big curve ball turn. In any case, I do so still love the crafts and want to keep with it, but my time is now taken up with caring for mom and making sure she is safe and happy. Shes one spoiled ole lady thats for sure! My newest thing is to collect ATC - Artist Trading Cards for her. Its an easy "hobby/collection" for her as it does not take up much room. She loves looking at them, and its fun to bring her one every so often. she looks forward to it. If you know of a good ATC shop please let me know. I've made her some myself, but always looking for some new fun kinds. Don't care for the digital prints though.

So, as another day comes to an end, I sigh....................and hope to head in to bed and get some sleep before doing it all again tomorrow. Early a.m. is taking mom for her lab work and friday is her visit to the cardiologist. I'm more than a bit aprehensive about that, so this week is a little rougher than norm. Just always looking for a new way to keep myself sane.

Getting Ready for Easter.......................

With St Pattys Day behind us, Easter is officially on its way. I LOVE Easter eggs. I've loved making them and coloring them and crafting them ever since I was a little girl. I checked around Etsy shops tonight to find a few fun and unique eggs.

I have to admit this is my second or third year buying a chicken from Sandyssundries shop. And although I crochet, I do not make these babies, and I just LOVE hers! The perfect size to house a cadbury egg (and who doesnt love those), these chickens are the perfect addition to any easter basket. And not only THAT, she offers them in many colors. My favorite saying used to be..........my cat is the only one who really loves me. Well, I lost my Rajah the Great, last december. Yes, it was a very very sad day, month.........its still sad. And although I know I'd never replace him, I found myself every day searching the spca adoptable cat section. One day in early feb, I found the kitty I knew I had to have. My new kitty is Babysocks and he is much different from Rajah, I've found I have love for both. Babysocks LOVES my crochet worms, so much so, that I've decided to make lots for his old friends who are still at the spca. We brought about 30 of them up to the shelter a few weeks ago. Peaches can be the PITS

So, you know how sometimes just out of the blue, a childhood memory pops into your head. I was sitting at the computer the other day and thinking of my dad who passed away over 14 years ago, and recalled that when i was a child, in the summer, dad ate a lot of fruit, esp peaches. We'd wash the peach pits and scrape scrape scrape them on the sidewalk till both sides were flat. Dad would drill a big hole in the center and then i would glue on a pebble or bead for a stone. Voila a peach pit ring! I so wish I had kept one of those. Anyway, I looked around on etsy and found something close. Peach pit earrings! In tabmade's shop on etsy you can find lots of miscellaneous treasures. Browse around. Its quite a fun little place to look. Looking at these earrings remind me of those summer days with dad. I figured I would stay on the theme of peaches as i browse around my second home, etsy. But not just notecards..............OMG, the hearts! You need to check them out. Everyone who knows me, knows that I am all about hearts, so I am def in there drooling.

Next, I think, well, lets not leave out the soap. Bath and beauty seems to be almost as big as jewelry on etsy. And, I do love the soaps. So, what can i find in peach??? I was browsing some shops on the Buy And Stay (BNS) Thread that I belong to on etsy. BNS is buy something from someone on the list and you also get to be featured on the list and will maybe have a sale. You're shop is not replaced when you have a sale, you get to stay stay stay! In any case, I came across this tea "bag" in eclecticdianas shop. http://www.eclecticdiana.etsy.com/ I was particularly impressed with how her "tea brew" is featured in a handmade bag made by yet another etsy seller. Looks great, and uif you read the listing on it, you will see that the brew itself has some awesome feedback.

After finding this, I was prompted to go surfing around etsy for some more "tea things". I found this in zemphira's shop @ http://www.zemphira.etsy.com/ My 85 year old mother, for years, has been a lover of tea, drinking several cups with milk every day. Lipton (ho-hum) but whatcha gonna do. This "useable art" reminds me of her. Plus i love the heart, tee hee. Looks like it can be hung on a wall or used as a potholder. cute item.

The Insanity of Today

Ok, so i usually blog about etsy and crafts and gift items and handmade things and cute shops and listings that i've found, but today was such an insanely crazy day, i've decided to come vent here.
First of all, i am sort of "off work today". We are closed, but I go in whatever time i like, just to get filing, insurance calls, paperwork stuff done usually.
Well, its not a typical day. i cant sleep in because my beloved cat Rajah (whom the vet says has cancer, but has so far been "beating it" for a year and a half) ends up with a lump on his neck. i freak out! I wake up early and haul poor Rajah to the vet. Bear in mind, he goes once a month to get checked, weighed and such and was just there last week, so hence, NOT a happy cat camper! On a good note, we did not have to wait long, and the lump was just a cyst. Home goes Rajah.
Next I am off to my moms to meet with her new home health care nurse. Her blood pressure was high (and i'm told to go buy her one of the small machines so she can monitor it twice a day). Her sugar is higher than she'd like (mom is freaking over it). They give her a new machine for that...........which means i have to cancel the service that sends her the supplies for her old machine. Dr wants to increase her meds and see her next week.
I call the dr only to find out he wont even be in the office half of next week, so the earliest we can get in is the week after next. Drs! i work for one, but will never understand them.
So, I'm going to the pharmacy to fill her scrips and buy the bp meter, but naturally mom cannot find the scrips........another freak out...........so i leave for McDonalds to buy a couple salads and regroup. i come back to the mailman flagging me down cause my moms "community mailbox" is too full to fit anything else in. (she cant get to the box on her own, and i havent checked it in a while)
Mom FOUND the scrips, so off i go. I stop at the bank, and the dollar store for a fudge round. i mean come on, it was either that or a straight jacket! This of course is the time my therapist calls to reschedule me and the lady monitoring my old retirement fund calls to go over some questions i had. UGH!
The pharmacy doesnt have the meter i need, so i am off to another one. thank goodness they have it there.
Now finally i can head in to work. I'm not there long, am on the phone verifying insurances and theres a banging at the front door.........who is there? Crazy Jill from two doors down. She is standing there in a black dress, no shoes, and the tag hanging from the dress. We work next to a small botique, and she was in trying on clothes and wanted my opinion. So i go down and watch the clothes trying on. She was going to give me what was left of her dozen donuts she bought this morning...........well even tho she took a bite out of each one! LOL...........ah, she doesnt have cooties, but i still pass.
Back to work, and the phone and my cell is ringing at the same time of course. My husband is trying to track me down because the pharmacey is calling about my moms meds. ok NOW i call the pharmacy............they are out of one of the meds till tuesday. Well of course they are! She has enough till then, so ok problem solved.
I finish work, forward the phone and make the mistake of trying to destress by browsing in the botique. I see a cute dress my daughter might like for her big date tonight, but dont want to take the chance. I call to see if she'll come up and try it on. Of course it takes her over 20 mins to get there and then it doesnt fit. OH MAN! So off we go. She comes home, I stop to pick up the meds for mom.
Get home, give the cat his pills, feed him and then go to call the home health nurse to double check on the meds, but naturally the number she gave me is a fax! I'm more than half nuts by now!
So, with all that venting done, I think I will finally eat some dinner, browse some etsy and probably crochet!!!!! Cause tomorrow is another day.

All About the SNOWMEN

Thats right! those cute little men of the snow! i love them! and along with hearts, which i collect all year, many years ago i have chosen to collect snowmen at christmastime. you'll find them on my tree, walls, and all other types of decor including stuffed animals.

I came across artwhims shop in a thread i was posting/promoting in the other night and saw her snowman ornaments. She was featuring some sports related snowmen, but I didnt see a hockey snowman. I convoed her and lo and behold, a custom order was born!!!! She made me two. One holding a hockey stick and one hugging a puck. Breast Cancer Awareness PINK basket

For the month of October, the doctors office where I work is participating in a program to help breast cancer awareness.

I'm wondering if any of you would be interested in donating an item or two (anything PINK) for the Breast Cancer Awareness basket we are doing at work. I work in a chiropractors office........and for each patients donation to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer fund, we want to sort of put them in a drawing for a huge basket filled with PINK things. New patients are going to get a FREE appt with xrays etc with their $20 donation.

Last time I did a promo basket like this for our 1 year bday of the clinic, I received lots of great etsy items http://www.etsy.com and biz cards. It was a HUGE hit. So many of the patients know about my etsy shop, and lots of them ask questions about it, etc.

What can I say? its my favorite color. Its girly, its bright, its soft and just plain pretty. I am a collector of pink, well and also hearts.........and pink hearts, whew dont get me started. Well, its almost Sept 1st and in many parts of the country, the mindset is switching to Autumn. For lots of us that means caramel apples. Of course personally, I think they are great all year long, but they seem to be way more promoted during the Fall months.

Out of curiousity, I started browsing around etsy. As many of you already know already know, that is one of my favorite past times. I found some caramel apple beauties!

This candy corn caramel apple particularly caught my eye as it is so very much Autumn-like (and i'm still on a candy corn rush from my last blog post). Visit the shop and browse around. Candy Corn

Its a sweet treat! Actually its way too sweet for me. In my book chocolate is the way to go, but you cant help LOVING the candy corn...........the colors the shape and the way it just screams Halloween and Fall! This has been my daughters favorite candy since she was real young, and i've always made and bought her lots of things for halloween which were candy corn related. This year i've designed some mini candy corn notecards. Calling All CARDS

Cardmaking! Its special because each card is one of a kind, some of them designed specifically FOR the recipient. Years ago when scrapbooking became popular, i swore i wouldnt get into it. There just seemed to be so much involved, so much to buy, etc. But after a while the scrapbooking bug bit me. Even more so, I realized that making cards is practically if not exactly like doing scrapbooking and I really became interested in that. For my moms 80th birthday I made her invitations with torn paper and jewels, rubberstamping and more. They read "youth is a gift of nature, old age is a work of art". I do lots of custom card orders in my etsy shop and really enjoy it. http://www.craftheart.etsy.com. I recently made a super girly, frilly card as a custom order and the inside read "what the F**k?" Seems the buyers friend was a prim and proper woman, but as the buyer tells me "she cusses like a sailor". I really enjoyed making that one!

I do still BUY some cards when I find some in a style that I dont make myself or one that just catches my eye so that i have to have it. About Glue........................lets see, I used to work teaching craft classes at an Arts and Crafts shop on the air force base where we live. All sorts of miscellaneous classes were taught in all age groups, but mostly home school kids. We did so many projects and i was asked so many times: What glue do you use to glue this to that, for example. It prompted me to do some internet research and find an easy way to answer the question. I found http://www.thistothat.com You can ask your own glue question and you receive your own glue answer! Its simple as that. I cant count how many times I've used it. Some glues I have never heard of and were a little difficult to find and some I were suprised to find out for instance, THAT works on fabric, or THAT will adhere glass or metal.

Something about chocolate is just so good, its sinful! Every diet I have ever blown has been for chocolate. But what can I say, its creamy, its yummy, its sweet and its color is even warm and inviting to look at.

Thats right, these delectibles are not really edible, as they are not real chocolate, but soap! Ever see anything like it? Prob not. So, I'd say you need some. Browse around her shop. Scrunch it Up

Scrunchies? are they still in style? back in the day when I had very long hair, if i wasnt wearing one in my hair, I def had one on my wrist, ready at any time to become just a bit too warm and BING there it was to swoop up my hair.

So i've been sick with some kind of weird coughing flu bug for the past week, and wanted to spend my time at home doing some short term crafting projects where I could see the result right away. And with the upcoming christmas season in mind, I started thinking stocking stuffers. I have lots and lots of different kinds of fuzzy and eyelash yarn around the house (everywhere from the closet, to under the bed, to in suitcases that are put up) So I made lots of different colors of scrunchies. Hoping for a mad stocking stuffer rush for the season!

I did alot of my stocking stuffer shopping on etsy last year and found lots I could use, particularly in the bath adn body section. I had 4 stockings to stuff, including my mothers, so etsy was definitely the place for one of a kind fun items.

Reconnected and Refreshed

So today is the first day I reconnect, refresh and try to get myself on track. In so many aspects!!! South beach diet here I come. I was on this diet years ago and did very well and more importantly felt great, so I'm giving it another try. Falling "off the beach" a year and a half ago was not good for me. But I can fix it.
Also reconnecting with many things in my life that have been missing and trying to find more time to organize and schedule myself to do more of the things i love, mainly crafting!!! I have so many ideas in my head and not enough time to complete them all. THE CATS MEOW!!!

My kitty Rajah (who likes to be called Rajah the great) had a vet appointment yesterday. He is quite old, 15 years, and about 17 months ago, the vet said they were pretty sure he had intestinal cancer. Put him on meds, gave him about 3 mos, well he is still kicking! He had a short hospital vet stay about 6 weeks ago, but since then new meds and he even GAINED 11 ounces this visit. I'm so thrilled!!!!! He is soon to be opening a shop on cafepress, lol. I know it sounds silly. But he has all sorts of pics of himself to share on tshirts, mugs, greeting cards etc. Doesnt most of the world love a funny cat?? http://www.cafepress.com/rajahsshop

Butterflychic has this extremely feminine and mom-like card in her shop. I cant help but think how cool this card would be paired with a lavendar nightgown and slippers. My friends and followers of my blog probably all know how I feel about hearts. I collect them. I've been collecting them for a very long time. Since kindergarten in fact. I love just about all kinds, so lots of things with hearts strike my fancy. As I was visiting, posting and promoting in the etsy forums the other night, I was lucky enough to spot this beaded pendant, being promoted in a thread. GemsbyJules has some very nice items in her shop, but the heart takes it. Its colorful, its beaded, its fun and its a heart!!! i love it. So, I was reading the Womans World magazine and came across the cutest little April shower cupcakes made with handcut fruit slices and the handle was made from the "hook" part of a pretzel. Ham and Pineapple

Growing up, every Easter, my mom would make an Easter dinner of ham with pineapple rings and cloves. I was never too fond of ham, and it seemed to me the pineapple and cloves made it really yucky! I'm sure some found it great, and even to this day eat it as a yummy treat, but not me. My now elderly mother no longer cooks, and I couldnt help but think about the ham and pineapple dinners as Easter quickly approaches us. So if i cant EAT it, I figured i would look at some cute ham and pineapple stuff!

I have seem to become a soap collector ever since I joined etsy and have found all the novelty, cute and of course great smelling and useful soaps for sale there. I have more than I would ever wash with, but of course some are too pretty to actually use. Well, what is an Easter basket without chocolate?? Better yet, what is and Easter basket without a chocolate bunny. I remember as a kid, all my friends would bite off the ears of their Easter bunnies first, but I could never bear to do that, I always ate my Chocolate bunny from the bottom up, and saved the ears for last, even wrapping them in reynolds wrap for later. I love little yellow duckies. My sons girlfriend collects the yellow rubber duckies of all types and believe me they have all kinds. I bought her some soap for her bday with a yellow duck inside the soap and he was wearing a little birthday hat. So cute and funny. I want to FILL Easter baskets with ducks this year. I was looking around etsy as I always do, and I have found a duck or two there. One of my favorite shops is sweetspice. http://www.sweetspice.etsy.com/ She has the most awesome bath and body. Well as I'm looking around i find ducks...............not one, not two, but a whole bucketfull of ducks. Well Easter is almost upon us. In some parts of the country Spring is in the air. Instead of searching for the typical Easter bunny this year, I am all into the chicks! They're cute and fluffy too after all. I remember back in the day, when many families would buy baby chicks as Easter basket gifts for the kids. Never a good idea sadly, as they were not properly taken care of for the most part. So, although they are cute as heck, most usually not your typical PET. Except for THESE. FUZZY WUZZY

So, I'm still sick, and whats making me happiest right about now, but fuzzie wuzzies. What can I say, but they just make you feel good. I was surfing the forums on etsy today while promoing my fuzzy frap beverage skirts and I've found a few things that made me go WOW.

If you care to venture a little browsing spree in never felt betters shop http://www.ekneverfeltbetter.etsy.com/ you'll see an awful lot of fuzzy. What she was promoing today was some fuzzy fruit, a pear to be exact. No, its not fuzzy spoiled, its fuzzy awesome. The packaging is great. I love it. But upon further browsing and inspection, I stumbled across some other rather fuzzy and fun things in her shop. You gotta check the pink nuzzlers. They just scream fun and happy and oh so fuzzy wuzzy! They are certainly hard to resist. She has them in colors other than pink as well, if a different color were to strike your fancy.

To keep with the warm and fuzzy theme, I continued to browse around etsy searching all things fuzzy and I figured a good start would be searching "homefront tags". Homefront is the street team I belong to on etsy. We are made up of wives and significant others of active duty, and retired military, and some active duty members themselves. Yep, all crafting away. On Bedrest

I'm on Bedrest and going stir crazy! Dr said I am borderline pnuemonia and since I have a history of pnuemonia. (yup, had it before, it sucks), they arent taking any chances. Sent me home to bed, with antibiotics and some of the most worst tasting cough syrup you ever want to taste. All I have to say is thank heavens for my laptop. So what am I doing besides blogging, sleeping, coughing and watching TV? Crocheting! yup Working mostly on crochet flip flops for summer. They were a pretty good seller in my etsy shop last year http://www.craftheart.etsy.com/ , and I am hoping for the same this year.

I'm also working on my fuzzy caterpillar bookworm bookmarks. I am surprised at how popular they have become, but I am glad. They are going to make great Easter basket fillers this year. Working on a twist to the caterpillar bookmark as well. Something different, but it has a long tail. Its still on the design table so to speak - squeak, squeak.

All things green. He's Almost Back, BABY

Since my son broke his ankle during his hockey game on May 20th, there has been NO hockey for him.................a full leg splint, shorter temp cast, surgery, regular cast, pain meds, crutches, a boot and physical therapy. Today was his FIRST day on skates (roller blades, not yet ice skates, but gotta start somewhere). He did pretty well................they say in about two weeks he should be able to play in a regular aggressive ice hockey game. It feels like forever, but as his fans.............................me, his sister, dad and I are ready to CHEER. Go Ice Sharks and especially #55

Well, its early morning here...........early for me! I dont know how people get up at this unGodly hour. What do you do to fall asleep? I dont know why i've had such a hard time lately, but night before last i didnt sleep at all..........not one hour! kept trying and have things running thru my head, hearing noises, feeling sick, etc etc. it was horrible! had to work all day and when i finally did get to sleep last night i had been awake for about 35 hours. So what? warm milk? hot tea? lavendar bath? something has to work!

We've also had lots and lots of rain around here for days and nights. I know lots of people like the rain and its good for the grass and crops and all that good stuff, but i'm bored of it. I want to sing that rain rain go away song. Its funny here in FL cause in the summer months its either feast or famine with the rain. It either doesnt rain at all, and we have all sorts of water restrictions or this.............all day every day. PST, and i cant find my umbrella!

Thats LIFE

................and heres how things are buzzing along in my corner of the world! My new job is going pretty good. I am tired allllll the time tho. It is going to be hard to get used to it. The pay is good so that is a plus.
VJs ankle is getting better and better every day. He's been staying at the girlfriends place, but i have seen him a few times and he's walking without the boot (now that the cast has been off two weeks) and doing pretty well, just a slight limp. In no time at all he should be back on ice playing hockey. We're all pretty excited.
Chrissys new little job has been exciting for her and she's making lots of tips................she is trying to plan a vacation with her boyfriend for a week. It has me a little nervous. This empty nest syndrome is starting to hit me.
Victor is still plugging along at his management job. I dont think he likes it much better but for now its what pays the most.
And of course the cat is the cat. Rajah is doing pretty well for a cat that the vet didnt expect to make it till the first of the year, and then gave him only about 3 mos to live. I guess he truly is rajah the great...............................and i have been putting a lot of prayers in to st francis of assissi for all small animals and pets.
I'm not having as much time for etsy now that i am working, but i am doing it as much as i can and running specials here and there. Mostly working on the iced beverage skirts and selling more off etsy than on...............a sale is a sale and its all good!

Working a NEW job

I got some great news this week. One of my best friends, who is sadly stationed with hubby in Guam right now, has just found out she is pregnant again!!!! She already has a sweet little girl, and i wonder if this one will be a boy! Hopefully they will come back to the states soon.

My Hockey Son

Just blogging about my son cause i am so proud of him! He plays in an adult hockey league and unfortunately broke his ankle a few weeks ago. Although he wasnt able to participate he still went to the games, even when he was in pain, so that he could be part of the team and cheer them on. they had a playoff game and championship game that he sooooooooooo wanted to play. I thought he would jump right out of his skin! Unfortunately they did not win the championships, and my son is out for at least another 2 months, but then he's getting right back in there!
At first the dr thought he would have to put a plate and screws into his foot so surgery was scheduled and it would have been a much much longer recovery........but once in for surgery, doc realized the ankle was stable enough and just casted it! YAY! As upset as he was over all this, i am just so proud that he still participated and showed what he was made of! Makes a mother cry! GO ICE SHARKS, ESP #55

You would be so suprised at the variety of different items you can find simply by searching around the site.

Joining is free and easy! You can sign up to be a buyer only, which means you will browse shops, purchase items, and participate in forums. There is a feedback system also featured to help you decide on purchases and see how others rate the item and/or shop you may be interested in.

Its quite easy, as well, to join as a seller. Setting up shop is as easy as ABC. Adding and editing items is a breeze and the cost is affordable. List all types of hand crafted items and promote in the forums and on your blog or myspace for interest and sales.

Fathers Day

These holidays sneak up on you before you even realize it. So here we are in June and the next thing you know, it'll be Dads Day!
